Gaekwad, a former player, coach, and selector for Indian cricket, was remembered by peers and the cricket community for his contributions and friendships spanning decades.

Cricketing Fraternity Pays Tribute to Anshuman Gaekwad

Cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, alongside BCCI secretary Jay Shah, participated in a solemn prayer meet held on Thursday in honor of Anshuman Gaekwad. The event took place in Vadodara, paying tribute to the cricket stalwart who succumbed to blood cancer on July 31.

Gaekwad, known for his multifaceted role in Indian cricket as a player, coach, and selector, was cremated at Kirti Mandir in Vadodara. Dignitaries including BCCI president Roger Binny and former wicket-keepers Nayan Mogia and Kiran More were present to bid their farewells.

The prayer meet, organized by Gaekwad's family in the Sevasi area, saw tributes pour in from various sections of society. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar recounted his friendship and professional camaraderie with Gaekwad, emphasizing his hope for Gaekwad's recovery despite knowing about his illness.
