Hockey India has announced substantial cash prizes for the men's hockey team following their bronze medal triumph at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Each player will receive Rs 15 lakh, while the support staff members will be awarded Rs 7.5 lakh each. The team's historic victory was led by Captain Harmanpreet Singh, securing their second consecutive Olympic medal after a 52-year gap.

The match, held at Yves-du-Manoir Stadium, was particularly significant as it also marked the final international appearance of legendary goalkeeper PR Sreejesh. The Indian team, under Harmanpreet's leadership, showcased an outstanding performance with the captain scoring two pivotal goals in the 30th and 33rd minutes, defeating Spain 2-1. This win not only earned them the bronze medal but also reaffirmed India's dominance in international hockey.

Dilip Tirkey, President of Hockey India, praised the team's exemplary effort and said, 'This victory is a testament to the hard work, determination, and resilience of our players and support staff. Winning back-to-back Olympic medals is an extraordinary achievement that reflects the resurgence of Indian hockey on the world stage.' Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh also lauded the team, emphasising their unity, skill, and perseverance. He expressed heartfelt congratulations to Captain Harmanpreet, PR Sreejesh, and the entire squad, reaffirming Hockey India's commitment to supporting and developing the sport in the country.
