American sprinter Rai Benjamin decisively defeated world-record-holder Karsten Warholm and Brazil's Alison dos Santos in the 400-meter hurdles final at the Paris Olympics on Friday.
Benjamin clocked an impressive 46.46 seconds to take gold, leaving Warholm (47.06) and Dos Santos (47.26) several strides behind. Despite a slight mishap over the eighth hurdle, Benjamin executed a convincing victory in the face-off against the three fastest men in history.
Three years prior, Benjamin had clinched silver behind Warholm when the Norwegian set the world record at the Tokyo Games.
