Former Indian cricket coach Rahul Dravid revealed that India's series loss to South Africa during the 2021-22 season marked his lowest point as head coach. Under Virat Kohli's leadership, the Men in Blue had a historic opportunity to secure a series win against South Africa on their home soil.
Despite a commanding victory in the first Test at Centurion, India experienced back-to-back defeats in the subsequent matches, enabling the Proteas to achieve an impressive come-from-behind series win. Dravid noted that senior player injuries, including Rohit Sharma's, significantly impacted the team's performance.
In an interview with Star Sports, Dravid lamented the missed opportunity, highlighting that even though India had competitive stretches in the second and third Tests, the team fell short during critical moments. He added that his coaching career also saw highs, such as the ICC T20 World Cup victory in June and other commendable performances in international tournaments.
