The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has delayed its decision on Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat's appeal against her disqualification from the women's 50kg freestyle final at the Olympic Games.
The 29-year-old athlete was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight during her weigh-in on Wednesday. Initially, the verdict was to be announced this evening.
The CAS now has extended the deadline until 6 pm on August 11, 2024, for the Sole Arbitrator, Hon. Dr Annabelle Bennett, to issue a ruling. The formal decision will likely be made public on August 13, two days after the Paris Games conclude.
