Indian men's hockey team star Vivek Prasad was given a hero's welcome as he returned to his hometown in Madhya Pradesh after clinching a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. A pivotal brace from skipper Harmanpreet Singh and stellar goalkeeping by PR Sreejesh ensured India's 2-1 victory over Spain at the Yves du Manoir Stadium.

India's consecutive bronze medal accomplishment marks a significant milestone, achieved for the first time since the 1972 Munich Games. In an interview with ANI, Vivek Prasad conveyed his gratitude towards State Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Vishwas Sarang, for the warm reception and praised the Madhya Pradesh government for their unwavering support. At the airport, Vivek’s family, coach, and state officials greeted him with immense pride. His brother Vidya Sagar Prasad and father Rohit Prasad expressed their pride and optimism for future tournaments. His mother, Kamal Devi, credited his hard work, wishing for gold next time.
