The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has extended its decision delay concerning Vinesh Phogat's Olympic appeal, leaving the Indian wrestler in suspense until August 16. Phogat, disqualified from the women's 50kg freestyle final for being 100gm over the weight limit, is contesting for a joint silver medal.

The CAS ad hoc division president permitted an extension for the sole arbitrator, Hon. Dr Annabelle Bennett, to make a ruling by 6 p.m. Paris time on August 16, 2024, according to an IOA statement.

Phogat's appeal demands joint silver recognition with Cuban wrestler Yusneylis Guzman Lopez, who advanced to the final after Phogat's disqualification. The outcome now hinges on the deferred CAS decision.
