Concerns over security arose after the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor led to widespread protests, resulting in the cancellation of the highly-anticipated Durand Cup derby between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.
Mohun Bagan and East Bengal fans, along with other supporters, have appealed for the matches to be reinstated in Kolkata. The organizers are yet to make an announcement regarding the venues for the semifinals and finals of the tournament.
