India's Olympic and World Championships gold medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra celebrated his second-best throw of his career after finishing second at the Lausanne Diamond League. The athlete recorded a season-best distance of 89.49 metres at the event in Switzerland on Friday.

"The feeling was not great at first, but I am happy with my throw, especially the second-best throw on my last attempt," Neeraj told Olympics.com. "It was a tough start, but the comeback was really nice and I enjoyed the fighting spirit I showed." Despite early difficulties, he pushed hard in his final attempts to secure an impressive finish.

Competing against Anderson Peters of Grenada, who set a new meet record with a 90.61m throw, and Julian Weber of Germany, who took third with 87.08m, Neeraj climbed from fourth to second place. His 89.94m throw from the 2022 Stockholm Diamond League remains his personal best and a national record in India. Neeraj, currently third in overall standings, looks strong for the Diamond League Final in Brussels after overcoming injuries that impacted his performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
