Grigor Dimitrov ended Andrey Rublev's comeback bid, securing a spot in the U.S. Open quarter-finals for the first time since 2019. Dimitrov claimed victory with a 6-3, 7-6(3), 1-6, 3-6, 6-3 win.

The ninth seed won 80% of his first-serve points and delivered 17 aces, frustrating Rublev, who showed his exasperation by smashing his racket and injuring his wrist. The intense match had the New York crowd captivated, including Serena Williams.

Dimitrov gained momentum with a key second-set tiebreak and maintained his edge in the decisive fifth set, booking a quarter-final spot against either Frances Tiafoe or Alexei Popyrin.
