As the medals continue to pour in, India has achieved a historic record haul at the Paris Paralympics. Silver medallist Yogesh Kathuniya is optimistic that India will finish in the Top 20 in the event's medal tally. On Tuesday, with two double podium finishes, India outdid its best-ever medal tally of 19, set three years ago in Tokyo.

India's record medal tally for a single Paralympics edition rose to 21 on Wednesday, following Sachin Khilari's silver medal in the men's shot put F46 final. Yogesh Kathuniya hopes India will hit the 25-medal mark and told ANI, "India broke the medal tally record, and hopefully, we will finish in the Top 20." Currently, India stands in the 20th position with 21 medals, comprising three gold, eight silver, and ten bronze.

Yogesh Kathuniya contributed to India's record tally with a standout performance in the men's discus throw F56 final at Stade de France, earning his consecutive Paralympics medal. Despite his joy at the accomplishment, Kathuniya sees room for improvement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called to congratulate Kathuniya and other medallists, reinforcing his inspirational message. Meanwhile, Mariyappan Thangavelu, who achieved a bronze in the men's high jump T63 final, is determined to secure gold in the next Paralympics. India para-athletics head coach Satyanarayana praised Mariyappan's performance, highlighting its inspirational impact on Tamil Nadu.
