India, aiming high in the global sports arena, is set to bid for the 2030 Youth Olympics under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, announced Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya at the Olympic Council of Asia's 44th General Assembly.
This event marks the fifth edition of the international youth sporting event, and India eyes it as a stepping-stone for hosting the 2036 Olympics. BJP president JP Nadda highlighted India's successful track record in organizing international sports events like cricket World Cups and the football U-17 World Cup.
The competition to host the 2030 Youth Olympics will see India vying against nations including Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Thailand, Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
