Wright-Phillips Applauds De Bruyne, Predicts Haaland to Break Messi's Record

Manchester City legend Shaun Wright-Phillips praised midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, noting his immense skill. Discussing City striker Erling Haaland, Wright-Phillips predicted he could surpass Lionel Messi's record of 91 goals in a season. Haaland had a stellar debut season with City, winning multiple titles and breaking goal-scoring records.

Manchester City legend Shaun Wright-Phillips has lavished praise on midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, suggesting that the player possesses an almost supernatural talent. 'It's like he's got Satan in his foot,' Wright-Phillips remarked, emphasizing De Bruyne's significance in City's Premier League winning campaign in the 2023-24 season, despite his initial sidelining due to injury. De Bruyne managed to score four goals and provide 10 assists across 18 matches. During a Premier League event in Dwarka, Wright-Phillips declared De Bruyne one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history.

Wright-Phillips also spoke highly of Manchester City’s striker Erling Haaland, suggesting the Norwegian could potentially break Lionel Messi's 2012 record of 91 goals in a single season. 'We've seen what Haaland is capable of over the last two years... he's nearly reached 100 goals,' Wright-Phillips told ANI, highlighting Haaland's focus and form above all else. Haaland joined the Premier League from the Bundesliga in the summer of 2022 and was honored with the 'Gerd Muller Trophy' for Best Striker of the Year. During his debut season, he led City to a treble win, scoring 56 goals in all competitions.

Haaland's debut season with City was nothing short of historic, not only helping the team to clinch the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League titles but also setting records for goal-scoring in all competitions. In the Premier League alone, his tally was 27 goals in 31 appearances, complemented by five assists. Haaland continued his impressive form into the 2023-24 season, helping Manchester City secure both the league title and the League Cup.
