The Friedkin Group Secures Majority Stake in Everton

The Friedkin Group has reached an agreement with Blue Heaven Holdings to acquire Farhad Moshiri's majority stake in Everton FC. The purchase, pending regulatory approvals, follows failed takeover attempts by 777 Partners. The Friedkin Group aims to stabilize the club and complete its new stadium.

The Friedkin Group has finalized an agreement with Blue Heaven Holdings to acquire Farhad Moshiri's majority stake in Everton FC, the Premier League club announced on Monday.

This development follows two months after the Friedkin Group had initially abandoned plans to purchase the Merseyside club, where they were in exclusive talks following a failed takeover by 777 Partners. Prospective owners 777 Partners, who had an agreement with Moshiri for his 94.1% stake, reportedly struggled to meet Premier League conditions, leading to the deal’s collapse in June.

Expressing their satisfaction, a Friedkin Group spokesperson said, "We are pleased to have reached an agreement to become custodians of this iconic football club. We are focused on securing the necessary approvals... and sharing our vision for its future, including the completion of the new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock." The transaction awaits regulatory approval from the Premier League, the FA, and the Financial Conduct Authority.

Moshiri, who first purchased a stake in Everton in 2016 and expanded his ownership to 94.1% by 2022, had an agreement with Miami-based 777 Partners for a sale exceeding 550 million pounds ($733.10 million). The long-anticipated sale encountered delays, culminating in the current Friedkin Group deal.

Everton, after narrowly dodging relegation last season, currently stand second-bottom in the Premier League with one point from five matches.
