Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has expressed concerns following his team's recent loss to India in Kanpur, emphasizing the necessity for stronger batting performances. "Both the Tests we didn't bat well. In these conditions, we need to bat well. If you look at our batters - we played 30-40 balls and got out," Shanto remarked at the post-match presentation.

Shanto stressed the importance of building substantial innings in Test matches, noting, "It's important in a Test match, when batsmen get in, you should look to score big runs." He acknowledged the outstanding performances from India's Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, attributing their contributions to India's victories. "The way Ashwin and Jaddu batted at that time - they batted really well," he said.

The Bangladesh captain also highlighted the necessity for their bowling unit to capitalize on key moments. "As a bowling unit we need to look at those moments - how we can get those wickets. That partnership cost us that game," Shanto added.

Despite the setbacks, Shanto found positives in individual displays, praising Mominul Haque's second innings batting and Mehidy Hasan Miraz's consistent bowling effort. "The way Mominul batted this innings will help going forward," Shanto noted. He also lauded Miraz's performance, stating, "The way Miraz bowled in both innings - he bowled really well." Shanto's reflections underscore the need for improved consistency and seizing critical moments as Bangladesh aims to bounce back in future Tests.

On the match front, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal's impressive fifty in the second innings guided the hosts to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh at Green Park. Jaiswal was awarded man of the match for his key contributions with the bat in both innings.

India required just 95 runs to win in the second session on Day 5. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal started the proceedings, but Rohit was dismissed for eight runs. Later, Shubman Gill joined Jaiswal, but he didn't last long, getting out for six runs. Virat Kohli then came in, and alongside Jaiswal, took India past the 50-run mark. Jaiswal's second half-century of the match set the stage for victory before he was dismissed for 51 runs. India eventually won the match with seven wickets in hand, with Kohli and Rishabh Pant remaining unbeaten.

Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan took two wickets, and Taijul Islam claimed one. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh struggled to add to their score, with Mominul Haque and Shadman Islam contributing modestly. Shanto and Shadman built a 50-run partnership before both were dismissed. Mehidy Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim tried to stabilize the innings, but the team was eventually bowled out for 146. India's bowlers, particularly Bumrah, Jadeja, and Ashwin, played crucial roles, each taking three wickets, while Akash Deep took one.

The defeat highlights both potential and areas of improvement for Bangladesh as they prepare for upcoming Tests, with Shanto optimistic about better performances in the future.
