In a groundbreaking initiative, MSD Pharmaceuticals and Delhi Capitals have joined hands to lead a campaign against cervical cancer across India. The partnership seeks to harness the appeal of women's cricket to highlight the importance of preventive health measures and to educate women about cervical cancer risks and prevention strategies.
With the onset of India's highly anticipated women's T20 cricket season on February 14, 2025, Delhi Capitals will prominently display this message on their jerseys, marking a significant step as the first women's sports team to advocate for a national health movement. Believing in the power of sports to inspire change, MSD and Delhi Capitals aim to dismantle the stigma surrounding cervical cancer, increase access to information, and encourage women to take proactive steps toward health.
This collaboration arrives amid concerning statistics, as cervical cancer, primarily linked to HPV, annually impacts 123,000 women in India. Rehan A. Khan, Managing Director of MSD India, emphasized the criticality of awareness in prevention. Sunil Gupta, CEO of Delhi Capitals, remarked on the importance of using the league's growing popularity to champion a cause that could positively influence millions.
