Olympic Silver Medalist Koki Ikeda Banned for Doping

Japanese race walker Koki Ikeda, an Olympic silver medalist, received a four-year ban for doping offenses. The Athletic Integrity Unit confirmed the ruling after a disciplinary tribunal found he violated anti-doping rules. Ikeda's competition results have been annulled since June 2023 due to detected blood sample abnormalities.

Japanese race walker and former Olympic silver medalist Koki Ikeda has been handed a four-year ban following allegations of doping, the Athletic Integrity Unit announced on Friday.

The disciplinary and appeals tribunal concluded that the 26-year-old athlete breached anti-doping regulations. These findings have led to Ikeda's provisional ban from competition, which has been in effect since November 2024. His results from competitions since June 2023 have also been annulled.

Authorities detected anomalies in Ikeda's blood samples collected in June, August, and September of 2023, suggesting possible blood manipulation. Ikeda earned a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a subsequent silver at the 2022 world championships.
