Albon Criticizes Formula One's New Fines for Swearing

Williams driver Alex Albon expressed concerns over new Formula One regulations that impose heavy penalties for swearing, including significant fines and potential race bans. The FIA amended its sporting code in January, establishing a tiered system of fines and suspensions for breaches of conduct by drivers.

At a Silverstone event unveiling his team's 2025 car, Albon criticized the monetization of conduct and emphasized the ongoing discussions among drivers about these measures. He stressed that, as an adrenaline sport, Formula One should not be about constant monitoring and penalties.

Amidst FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem's crackdown on inappropriate language, which has already affected drivers like Max Verstappen, Albon called for a more mature approach in handling the situation. Drivers also demanded transparency about how fines are spent, highlighting growing tensions between competitors and the FIA.
