In a thrilling opener for the Women's Premier League (WPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a decisive six-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants, thanks to standout performances from Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh. Former Indian cricketer Mithali Raj praised Perry's dedication, highlighting her impact despite recovering from a hip injury.

Speaking on JioHotstar, Mithali Raj highlighted Perry's leadership and ability to guide debutant Raghvi Bist. Despite not being fully fit to bowl, Perry's contribution with the bat was critical in stabilizing RCB's innings after early setbacks. Her partnership with Bist brought much-needed stability after the early exits of key players Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt.

The match saw Gujarat Giants post a formidable 201/5, led by captain Ashleigh Gardner's 79 not out and Beth Mooney's 56. However, RCB's batswomen, including Perry with her 57 runs, and Ghosh's unbeaten 64, countered effectively, securing the win in just 18.3 overs. Gardner was also a notable bowler with two crucial wickets.
