In a thrilling tri-nation series final in Karachi, New Zealand's cricket team clinched a five-wicket victory over Pakistan, solidifying their standing in the ICC Men's ODI team rankings, as reported by Wisden. Chasing a 243-run target, the Kiwis comfortably wrapped up the victory in just 45.2 overs, thanks to stellar performances from Daryl Mitchell, who scored 57, captain Tom Latham with 56, Devon Conway's 48, and contributions from Kane Williamson and Glenn Phillips.

However, it was New Zealand's bowling attack that laid the foundation for their success. Pacer Will O'Rourke emerged as the match's standout performer, taking four wickets for 43 runs in 9.3 overs, which helped restrict Pakistan to a modest total. Other bowlers, including skipper Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell, supported with two wickets each, while Nathan Smith and Jacob Duffy claimed one apiece. The match served as a precursor to the Champions Trophy 2025, with both teams set to face off again at the same venue on February 19.

This victory has elevated New Zealand's ICC ODI team rating from 100 to 105, earning them the fourth spot with 4,414 points across 42 matches. Meanwhile, Pakistan dropped to third with a 107 rating after the loss. In other rankings movements, Australia bounced back to second place with a rating of 110 despite their unexpected series loss to Sri Lanka, while India continues to lead the table with 119 points after a dominant win over England. New Zealand now aims to carry this momentum forward as they gear up for the Champions Trophy.
