World rally drivers issued a joint statement on Monday, decrying the governing body's clampdown on swearing and requesting dialogue with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem for an urgent remedy. The communique followed the fine imposed on Hyundai's French driver, Adrien Fourmaux, amounting to 10,000 euros due to swearing in a televised interview at Rally Sweden's conclusion this month.

January saw amendments to the sporting code, leading to severe sanctions for rule-breaking conduct, including inappropriate language. Drivers and co-drivers, some not full-time professionals, were inspired by their Formula One counterparts to voice a collective opinion as the World Rally Drivers Alliance (WoRDA).

The drivers expressed concern over the hefty fines, arguing they are disproportionate to rally budgets and promulgate a misleading impression of wealth in the industry. They stressed the necessity for clarity on fine allocations, urging direct communication between FIA and WoRDA to develop a fair and urgent resolution.
