In a groundbreaking move, DD Sports is offering live coverage of the Indian Open, a premier golf tournament in Asia that dates back to 1964 and is notable for its 2.25 million US dollar prize purse, the largest in India. The tournament runs through Sunday, March 30, airing on DD Sports from 2 PM to 5 PM daily, according to an official press release.
This marks the first time the Indian Open is being broadcast live on DD Sports, aligning with the Indian Golf Union's strategy to popularize the sport among wider audiences and the youth, leveraging the vast reach of India's national broadcaster. This year's competition features a strong lineup, including defending champion Keita Nakajima from Japan and Spain's Eugenio Chacarra, both distinguished former top-ranked amateurs among 138 players competing.
The Indian Open is an integral part of the Asian Swing and contributes points towards the European Tour Race to Dubai rankings, which offers the top-10 players not otherwise exempt a coveted spot on the PGA Tour, the world's foremost golf tour.
