The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has directed the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to recall all foreign players to India, hinting at the impending resumption of the league's 18th edition. According to BCCI sources, a decision about the continuation of the tournament will be made soon.
Last week, the BCCI paused the remainder of the IPL season due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, which led to the suspension of the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala. The peace restoration over the weekend brings hope for the IPL's return to avid cricket fans across the globe.
With the stand-off resolved, plans for the IPL resumption are gathering pace. Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad have been shortlisted as venues for the remaining 16 fixtures. However, weather conditions may prompt a switch from the planned final venue, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, to ensure an uninterrupted conclusion to the tournament.
