Chelsea Secures Rising Star Jamie Gittens in £55 Million Move
Chelsea has reached an agreement to sign 20-year-old English winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund for £55 million. Gittens, who has made significant strides at Dortmund, is set to join Chelsea on a seven-year contract, strengthening their left wing after opting not to sign Jadon Sancho permanently.
Chelsea has successfully negotiated a deal to acquire promising English winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, the latter confirmed on Thursday. The move, reportedly valued at £55 million, will see the 20-year-old sign a seven-year contract with the London club.
The negotiation took place in Fort Lauderdale as both clubs were in the United States for the Club World Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals. Contractual specifics are still under review.
Gittens, initially joining Dortmund as a youth player from Manchester City in 2020, progressed to the senior team by 2022, making over 100 appearances and scoring 17 goals. Chelsea seeks to bolster their options on the left wing following their decision not to retain Jadon Sancho from Manchester United on a permanent basis.
