SVR Lazartigue made a stunning impression at the 2025 Rolex Fastnet Race, cutting through the pre-dawn darkness to clinch line honours on Monday. The sleek, blue trimaran led a record fleet of 444 boats, reaching Cherbourg, France as the first across the finish line.
Under the command of 28-year-old skipper Tom Laperche, and featuring a crew of ocean-racing luminaries such as Franck Cammas, Peter Burling, and Amelie Grassi, the 32-metre foiling Ultim traversed the 695-nautical mile course in one day, 17 hours, and 18 minutes. While the craft fell short of its 2023 record, it was still sufficient to secure victory with ease.
The prestigious Rolex Fastnet Race, a fixture in the offshore racing circuit since 1925, challenges sailors' abilities and resilience across diverse fleets. Starting from Cowes on England's Isle of Wight, the race navigates past the iconic Fastnet Rock off Ireland's southern coast before concluding in Cherbourg.
