As India prepares for the climactic Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series, a spat over pitch access at The Oval has sparked controversy. Shubman Gill, India's captain, has addressed the issue following heated exchanges between head coach Gautam Gambhir and Oval pitch curator Lee Fortis.

During a practice session, Gambhir clashed with Fortis over practice facilities, culminating in an animated confrontation. India's batting coach, Sitanshu Kotak, intervened, attempting to mediate the situation, as Gambhir vehemently challenged Fortis, asserting India's autonomy at the nets.

Despite the escalating tensions, Fortis remained reticent when queried by reporters, deflecting questions about his dispute with Gambhir. Meanwhile, at the pre-match conference, Gill expressed confusion over the issue, noting it is customary for coaches and captains to inspect pitches closely during preparations and questioning the curator's resistance.

Gill's remarks echoed the high emotions evidenced in previous Tests, where players have clashed both on and off the field. As the series hangs in balance with India trailing 1-2, the revelation of behind-the-scenes friction adds a layer of intrigue to the impending match.
