Sonny Baker, a promising young pacer, is on the brink of making his One Day International (ODI) debut against South Africa, garnering admiration from England's white-ball skipper Harry Brook. The selection follows Baker's commendable performance at The Hundred, where he delivered a dramatic hat-trick for Manchester Originals against Northern Superchargers.

At just 22, Baker has already showcased his talent by dismissing cricket powerhouses like Dawid Malan, Joe Root, and Jonny Bairstow. His impressive prowess, characterized by high-speed bowling and skillful deliveries, has made him a formidable presence on the field, as noted by Brook in a statement to Sky Sports.

Having claimed eight wickets in The Hundred, Baker remains a pivotal figure as England prepares to confront South Africa in a trio of ODIs. His talents have not gone unnoticed, earning him a developmental central contract from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The ODIs against South Africa, scheduled for early September, will be a critical platform for Baker to further assert his standing within international cricket.
