Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu is poised to helm the Indian team's campaign at the World Weightlifting Championships in Førde, Norway, from October 2 to 11. Returning to action after Paris 2024, Chanu clinched gold in the 48kg category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in August, reigniting hopes for India in Norway.

The 31-year-old Chanu previously won gold in the 48kg category at the 2017 World Championships in Anaheim and a silver in the 49kg category at the 2022 event in Bogota, as per the Olympics.com platform. The 2025 Indian squad includes top contenders across various weight categories, boasting a strong lineup in both the men's and women's divisions.

Bindyarani Devi, Nirupama Devi, and Mehak Sharma excelled with silver medals, while Harjinder Kaur and Vanshita Verma clinched bronze at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships earlier this year. In the men's division, Lovepreet Singh, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, spearheads the team, having also secured a bronze recently alongside gold medalists Ajith Narayana and Ajaya Babu Valluri.
