Kochi Blue Spikers concluded their campaign in the Prime Volleyball League with a commendable victory against the Ahmedabad Defenders at Hyderabad's Gachibowli Indoor Stadium. The thrilling contest saw Kochi edge out Ahmedabad with set scores of 15-13, 14-16, 17-15, and 15-9, with Erin Varghese earning Player of the Match honors.
The Defenders, however, remained unaffected in terms of tournament standing, having already secured a semifinal spot. Ahmedabad began strongly, powered by Battur Batsuuri's powerful strikes, while Kochi's Jasjodh Singh leveled the playing field with a critical super serve and a super block on Shon T. John. Defensive stalwart Amrinderpal Singh's efforts were instrumental in Kochi clinching the first set.
As the match progressed, ferocious serving by Erin Varghese disrupted Ahmedabad's defenses, but the introduction of Nandhagopal and Akhin revitalized Ahmedabad, leveling the match. Outstanding play from Jasjodh and Hemanth, alongside Nicolas Marechal's strategic contributions, swung momentum back to Kochi. The match concluded with Hemanth's persistent pressure and Ahmedabad's errors, culminating in Kochi's victory amidst Ashique's defensive brilliance and a decisive faulty serve from Arshak Sinan.
