Captain Temba Bavuma is poised to make a comeback to South Africa's test squad for their upcoming series against India next month, following a recovery from a calf injury. Bavuma will captain the 15-man team for the test matches scheduled in Kolkata from November 14 to 18 and in Guwahati from November 22 to 26.
David Bedingham has been dropped, with Bavuma taking his place. The only other alteration in the team sees spinner Prenelan Subrayen excluded. According to coach Shukri Conrad, the squad remains largely unchanged from the group that recently drew a two-match series in Pakistan. Conrad praised the team's resilience and emphasized the importance of players who excelled in Pakistan in the upcoming India series.
South Africa secured a victory in Rawalpindi after an initial loss in Lahore, under the temporary leadership of Aiden Markram. Coach Conrad anticipates similar challenges in India and stresses every player's significance in maintaining competitiveness. The squad for India includes key players such as Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, and Kagiso Rabada.
