Top-ranked tennis star Carlos Alcaraz has announced his withdrawal from Spain's Davis Cup Finals match in Italy due to a hamstring injury. The decision was made following medical advice, leaving Alcaraz heartbroken as he returns home.
Alcaraz expressed his regret via social media, stating, "I'm so sorry to announce that I won't be able to play for Spain in the Davis Cup in Bologna. I have an edema in my right hamstring and the medical recommendation is not to compete."
The 22-year-old had been set to lead Spain against a formidable Czech Republic team in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Spain already faces a tough challenge against players like Jiri Lehecka and Jakub Mensik, who have previously knocked out the United States.
