Piastri completed his best lap at the Lusail circuit in a quick 1:20.924, narrowly edging out Norris by 0.058 seconds. Title contenders Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz also posted strong times, finishing third and fourth respectively.
With the championship race tightening, Norris holds a 24-point lead as they head into the critical sprint weekend, where he hopes to secure his first championship win.
