Venkatesh Prasad, a former Indian cricketer, has been elected as the President of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Sunday, with a decisive victory over K N Shanta Kumar by 191 votes. Prasad secured 749 votes, while Kumar received 558.
Joining him is former India cricketer Sujith Somasunder as Vice-President, and Santosh Menon, who reclaimed his role as Secretary, previously held from 2019 to 2022. In other election results, former umpire BK Ravi became Joint Secretary with 669 votes, and BN Madhukar defeated MS Vinay to secure the Treasurer position with 736 votes.
Originally planned for November 30, the KSCA elections were unexpectedly postponed, leaving Prasad and many others surprised. "We were stunned to learn of the postponement," he said in a press release, emphasizing that cricket should be the primary focus over politics. Prasad's mission includes reviving international and IPL matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
