The British Open has been rescheduled in 2028 to avoid overlapping with the Los Angeles Olympics. This offers the prestigious golf championship its latest start since 1893, with the event now starting on August 3 and concluding on August 6.

The Los Angeles Olympics, running from July 14 to July 30, posed a scheduling challenge for The Open, traditionally held in July since 1936. The exception was made in this Olympic year to accommodate the global event.

Although other major tournaments remain unchanged, the PGA Tour might revise its FedEx Cup season schedule. The Women's and Senior British Opens have also adjusted their dates, planned for August 17-20 and August 10-13, respectively, in 2028.
