Stuart Bithell, an Olympic gold medalist, has joined Britain's SailGP team as their new wing trimmer for the 2026 campaign, reconnecting with helm Dylan Fletcher. The duo previously secured Olympic gold in the 49er class at the Tokyo Games.

Bithell, with experience from four SailGP seasons, transitions from the German team, taking over from Iain 'Goobs' Jensen. Jensen moves to represent Australia's Flying Roos. "I'm stepping into big shoes after the team's success last season, but I'm ready for the pressure," Bithell expressed enthusiasm for the challenge.

Emirates GBR recently celebrated victory in the SailGP grand final, hosted in Abu Dhabi, earning a $2-million prize by defeating Australia and New Zealand. The upcoming SailGP Championship will feature 13 global events, commencing in Perth, Australia, and concluding in Abu Dhabi.
