The Sesa Football Academy's senior women's team has secured a place in the Indian Women's League (IWL) for the first time, reviving Goan representation in the national league after a three-year hiatus.
The team will now compete among India's top teams in the 9th IWL, set to take place in West Bengal from December 20 to January 6.
SFA's entry marks it as only the fifth Goan team to qualify. Dronacharya Awardee and former SFA coach Armando Colaco praised this as a significant milestone in reviving women's football in Goa, attributing it to the academy's efforts in revitalizing the sport and inspiring young female athletes.
Navin Jaju, CEO of Vedanta Sesa Goa, commended the team, stating that this achievement highlights the academy's steadfast dedication to promoting women's football and empowerment at the grassroots level.
