An inquiry committee is delving into the aftermath of a chaotic scene that unfolded during Lionel Messi's recent event at Salt Lake Stadium in Calcutta. Fans went on a rampage after being unable to view the football icon, causing significant damage at the venue.
Led by retired Calcutta High Court judge Justice Ashim Kumar Ray, the three-member panel began its inspection, assessing various damage, from broken chairs to disrupted security arrangements. Videography and photography were undertaken to document extensively for the planned 15-day investigation.
Chief Secretary Manoj Pant expressed hope of timely submission of the report. Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against the main organizer amid allegations of mismanagement, with authoritative measures to ensure accountability as announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
