Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka has expressed satisfaction following the IPL 2026 auction, where the team managed to secure two of their three top targets. Despite missing out on Matheesha Pathirana, who was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 18 crore, Goenka praised the team's disciplined bidding approach.
"Our captain and vice-captain were very keen on Matheesha Pathirana, as was I," Goenka said on JioHotstar. "We reached our limit of Rs 17.8 crore for Pathirana, but acquiring Anrich Nortje at the base price was a pleasant surprise. Overall, our strategy was considered and well-executed," he added.
Goenka highlighted his team's satisfaction with this year's auction, noting the successful acquisition of Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and South African pacer Anrich Nortje. He emphasized LSG's achievement in securing two players from their shortlist, demonstrating strategic alignment with their objectives.
