In a gripping bid at the 2026 IPL mini auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a record-smashing Rs 25.20 crore. This acquisition marks the most expensive overseas signing in the tournament's history.

The intense bidding war saw KKR facing off against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), two giants with deeper pockets than their rivals, vying for the prized player. However, CSK stepped back once the cost spiraled beyond Rs 25 crore, allowing KKR to triumphantly secure Green.

Cricket analyst Ravichandran Ashwin, through his YouTube channel, critiqued the rapid pace at which KKR pursued Green. He suggested that a strategic pause might have forced CSK out of the race earlier. Despite not joining CSK, Ashwin emphasized that Green is a remarkable asset for KKR, underscoring the player's status as a generational talent.
