Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) emerged victorious in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, overcoming Flamengo in a gripping penalty shootout following a 1-1 stalemate at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar on Wednesday night. The triumph marks PSG's sixth major title of the year, joining their Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophee des Champions, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup victories.

The French squad took the lead in the 38th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia delivered a precise finish. Flamengo retaliated post-break, leveling the score in the 62nd minute with Jorginho's penalty strike. Both teams had opportunities to score as the clock ticked down, but Flamengo's goalkeeper, Agustin Rossi, kept PSG at bay during regulation time.

As extra time yielded no conclusive winner, the match proceeded to penalties. PSG's goalkeeper, Matvey Safonov, distinguished himself, making key saves during the shootout. Vitinha netted PSG's first kick, while Ousmane Dembele faltered. Ultimately, Nuno Mendes' decisive goal and Safonov's crucial save against Luiz Araujo clinched PSG's title. PSG coach Luis Enrique hailed the victory, emphasizing the team's historic achievements and strong connection with their supporters.
