New Zealand Cricket's chief executive, Scott Weenink, will resign next month after citing differing views with stakeholders over the country's cricketing future. Weenink, who assumed the role in August 2023, identified differences concerning the long-term direction of the sport and T20 cricket's role.

In a statement released by NZC, Weenink said that given the differences, new leadership is needed to drive NZC forward. He acknowledged his divergent opinions on NZC's priorities, making his continued leadership incompatible with the stakeholders' vision.

NZC Chair Diana Puketapu-Lyndon expressed gratitude for Weenink's contributions. The resignation coincides with NZC's strategic plans to launch NZ20, a privately-owned T20 league, replacing the existing Super Smash tournaments for both men's and women's cricket in January 2027.
