In a shocking incident, two teenage athletes were found dead in a room at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel in Kollam. The athletes, identified as Sandra A, aged 18, and Vyshnavi V, aged 15, appeared to have died in a suicide pact, according to local police.
The discovery was made early Thursday morning when other hostel residents noticed the pair's absence from a training session. Despite repeated attempts to reach them, no response came from inside their room, prompting authorities to force entry. Inside, the two young sportswomen were found hanging from the ceiling fans, the police reported.
Both athletes had been residing at the hostel for two years, pursuing their sports careers—Sandra in athletics and Vyshnavi in kabaddi. Preliminary investigations suggest suicide, but the motive remains unclear as no note was found. A case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered, and the investigation continues with input from SAI and the police.
