Bengal cricket coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla has reached out to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, urging intercession for ailing cricketer Akash Biswas, who requires an immediate kidney transplant.
Akash, associated with Kalighat Sporting Club, suffers from chronic kidney disease, with both kidneys failing. Despite a matched donor in his mother, funding the substantial surgical costs poses a significant challenge, as noted by a club official.
Previously, Shukla contributed Rs two lakh toward Akash's treatment. Now, as the situation escalates, Shukla hopes for governmental aid, while Chief Minister's Office considers the request, with acknowledgment of Mamata Banerjee's historical support for athletes.
