South Africa Soars as Markram's Mastery Secures Super 8 Spot
South Africa moves closer to the Twenty20 World Cup's Super 8 stage after Aiden Markram's half-century leads them to victory over New Zealand. Marco Jansen's four wickets help dismantle New Zealand's lineup, as Markram's 86 off 44 balls ensures a seven-wicket triumph.
South Africa is on the verge of reaching the Super 8 stage at the Twenty20 World Cup following captain Aiden Markram's explosive half-century, which secured a commanding seven-wicket win against New Zealand. This marks South Africa's third consecutive victory in Group D.
New Zealand's initial score of 175-7 couldn't withstand South Africa's response, largely thanks to Marco Jansen's impressive four-wicket haul. Markram's unbeaten 86, the highest by a South African captain in tournament history, saw South Africa chase down the target with 17 balls to spare.
Despite efforts from New Zealand's Finn Allen and a 74-run partnership by Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell, New Zealand managed only 17 runs in the last four overs. South Africa will next face the United Arab Emirates, as New Zealand takes on Canada.
