Giants acquire P Gott from Nationals

The San Francisco Giants acquired pitcher Trevor Gott from the Washington Nationals in exchange for cash considerations, the Giants announced Wednesday. Gott, 26, went 0-2 with a 5.68 ERA in 20 relief appearances for the Nationals last season.

The right-hander has appeared in parts of the past four major league seasons, the last three with the Nationals. He debuted with the Los Angeles Angels in 2015, pitching a career-high 47 2/3 innings with a 4-2 record and a 3.02 ERA. He has a career record of 5-4 with a 4.64 ERA, striking out 51 and walking 32 in 75 2/3 innings.

The Giants moved pitcher Johnny Cueto to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Gott on their 40-man roster. --Field Level Media
