Midfielder Fatemeh Pasandideh and defender Atefeh Ramezanizadeh made headlines when they were pictured training with A-League club Brisbane Roar, marking a significant step in their fresh start.

The decision to seek asylum came after concerns for their safety emerged when the duo declined to sing the national anthem during their opening match at the women's Asian Cup in Australia. Dubbed 'wartime traitors' by Iranian state media, their defection coincided with escalating geopolitical tensions involving Iran, the U.S., and Israel.

Brisbane Roar's announcement of the players' participation in training had a warm reception. CEO Kaz Patafta expressed the club's unwavering support for the newcomers as they adapt to their new environment.
