Hailey Davidson, a transgender golfer, is challenging newly implemented gender policies by the USGA and LPGA, claiming discrimination after being barred from participating in women's events. Her lawsuit, filed in New Jersey, alleges that the policy change unlawfully prevents her from competing due to the timing of her transition.

The new policy, effective in 2025, restricts participation to those assigned female at birth or transitioned before male puberty, a criterion Davidson does not meet. Despite competing under prior rules in 2024, she did not advance. Davidson contends the policy excludes transgender women, with restrictions on hormones and puberty blockers exacerbating the issue.

Davidson, who began hormone treatments in 2015 and underwent surgery in 2021 as per previous guidelines, cites a previous win on a Florida mini-tour in her pursuit of justice. Meanwhile, the LPGA defends its policy as protective of competitive integrity, awaiting legal proceedings to address the concerns raised in the suit.
