Rajasthan Royals Captain Fined for Dressing Room Vaping
Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been fined 25% of his match fee and handed a demerit point for vaping in the dressing room during an IPL match. The BCCI considers further actions to maintain the tournament's reputation amid RR's steady campaign led by key players.
Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been penalized a quarter of his match fee and received a demerit point after being caught vaping inside the dressing room during an Indian Premier League (IPL) game against Punjab Kings. According to the IPL’s press statement, Parag violated Article 2.21 of the Code of Conduct, which is aimed at preventing conduct that could tarnish the sport's reputation.
The incident occurred during the match’s second innings. Parag admitted to the charges and accepted the punishment from Match Referee Amit Sharma. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is evaluating further actions against the team and its officials to preserve the tournament's integrity.
Amid the controversy, Rajasthan Royals continue on a promising IPL campaign, currently sitting fourth on the points table. The team owes its success largely to the opening duo, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, and its sharp pace attack led by Jofra Archer. The team is set to host Delhi Capitals next.
