Over 600 athletes participated, underscoring the depth of talent and the pivotal role of the event in India's wrestling development pathway.

Haryana affirmed its supremacy at the U17 National Wrestling Championships 2026, securing top spots in Women's Wrestling and Freestyle categories, while the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) led in Greco-Roman. The championships, held from April 28 to April 30 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, were a significant milestone in the national wrestling development pathway, attracting over 600 participants from across the country.

Haryana emerged victorious in Women's Wrestling with 215 points and additionally claimed the Freestyle crown with 205 points. SSCB's dominance in Greco-Roman was marked by their 136 points win. Sanjay Singh, President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), praised the competitors, highlighting the event's role in showcasing India's deep wrestling talent base and the effective grassroots structure.

The federation's measures to prevent age manipulation paid off, as reflected in the diverse distribution of medals across states. Rising centers like Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, and Jammu & Kashmir made their mark, indicating a move towards a more balanced competitive field. The championships served as a launchpad for these athletes, setting the stage for future international endeavors.
