Real Madrid's Carvajal Faces Injury Setback as Contract Nears End
Real Madrid's captain Dani Carvajal sustains a foot injury amid contract expiry talks. The 34-year-old right back could miss two weeks but might be fit for the season's final home game against Athletic Bilbao. Real is struggling in LaLiga, trailing behind despite significant achievements.
In a challenging turn of events for Real Madrid, team captain Dani Carvajal has suffered a foot injury, confirmed the LaLiga club on Saturday. As the 34-year-old approaches the end of his contract in June, the setback could sideline him for two weeks, as reported by Spanish media. However, hopes remain that Carvajal might still participate in Real's final home game of the season against Athletic Bilbao at the Bernabeu later this month.
Having made 448 appearances for the club, Carvajal has yet to make a significant impact this season, playing only 20 matches amidst strong competition from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Real Madrid issued a statement detailing that the player was diagnosed with a fracture of the distal phalanx of the fifth toe on his right foot.
The record 15-time European champions, who visit Espanyol and then face Barcelona for an El Clásico encounter, are currently enduring a disappointing LaLiga campaign. They are trailing Barcelona by 11 points after 33 matches and were eliminated from the Champions League at the quarter-final stage by Bayern Munich.
